Thirty-one days after the Supreme Court of British Columbia grants your divorce, it automatically becomes final unless your former spouse files an appeal. To prove that your divorce is final, you may apply for a certificate of divorce. In addition, you may require proof your divorce is final for a name change, getting married again, or obtaining some credit.

  • Select the court that granted your divorce (if you don’t know, please ask us),
  • Let us know if you were the original customer or if you are the former spouse of our customer,
  • The court charges $40.00 for each certificate of divorce issued. You can add one or two court fees now or pay them later.

What you’ll need to provide:

  • A copy of the entered divorce order, unless we have it in our system.

How it works:

  1. First, generate your Requisition and draft divorce certificate,
  2. Second, sign the Requisition and mail it to us together with the divorce certificate and a copy of the divorce order,
  3. Include a money order for $40 to the Minister of Finance for each certificate or purchase the divorce certificate court fee from Add-ons,
  4. Then, we’ll file the papers in court and return in approximately one week to pick up the official divorce certificate,
  5. Finally, we’ll send the certificate to you.
