Who we are
We (“Website,” “We,” “Us”) is owned and operated by Maria Cool Law Office, located at 720-999 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1K5.
What personal data do we collect, and why do we collect it?
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the Website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) because visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the Website.
If you submit a contact form, personal data such as your email address, subject and message are captured and retained in our support system. We keep contact form submissions indefinitely for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information they submitted for marketing purposes.
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and Website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
We will also set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices when you log in. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. So, for example, if you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. However, we’ll remove the login cookies if you log out of your account.
An additional cookie will be saved in your browser if you edit or publish an article. This cookie includes no personal data and indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
We capture personal data to generate the documents and instructions from the answers you provide on the questionnaire. We keep questionnaire responses indefinitely for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.
We process all credit card transactions through a third-party secure payment gateway. We only use the credit card information for the current transaction. As a result, our servers do not store credit card information.
Use of personal data
Sometimes, with third-party assistance, we may use your personal information to:
- Verify your identity and process your order and payment through merchant account services,
- Generate the products and services you create with our Software, and
- Analyze our customer demographics to serve you better.
We may use your Data to contact you to follow up with transactions initiated on the Website or inform you of any service-related changes to the Website. Generally, users may not opt out of these communications, though they can deactivate their accounts. However, these communications are not promotional. We do not sell or rent Personally Identifiable Information to third parties except as necessary to provide you with our services. We may provide your data to a third party to comply with the law.
- Allow only authorized personnel to access your personal information.
- Hold all information you provide to us in absolute privacy.
- Not sell, rent or license our mailing list, your name or personal information to any third party.
- Not send unsolicited emails.
We may display personal testimonials of satisfied customers received through email surveys on our Website or other marketing material. In addition, when you leave us reviews either on the Website, on other publicly available websites, or by email, we may display these customer reviews on the Website. Any publicly posted review will be anonymized and, at our sole discretion, edited to suit the purpose for which we use it.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor has visited the other Website.
We may use your data and traffic data to gather general statistics regarding our customers and visitors, respectively, to enhance the consumer experience on the Website. We may also use demographic data that does not identify you specifically or allow you to be contacted but identifies specific criteria about our users. For example, we may inform third parties about the number of registered users, unique visitors, and the most frequently browsed pages. However, we do not examine such information for Personally Identifiable Information. We may also use Traffic Data to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, or display the content according to your preferences.
Who we share your personal data with
How long do we retain your personal data?
At a minimum, we will retain your data for as long as needed to provide you services and as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Therefore, we may retain your data in our archives even after being removed from the Website.
If you leave a comment, it and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our Website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights do you have over your personal data?
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. For example, you can delete all of the questionnaire data from the settings page of the app dashboard.
Where do we send your personal data?
We may send visitor comments for checking through an automated spam detection service.
