Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy covers our treatment of personally identifiable information that we collect when you use our services and traffic information when you browse the Website. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Service. By using the Website, you accept the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Who we are

We (“Website”, “We”, “Us”) are owned and operated by Maria Cool Law Office, located at 720-999 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1K5.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the Website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. This is because visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the Website.

Contact forms

If you submit a contact form, personal data such as your email address, subject and message are captured and retained in our support system. We keep contact form submissions indefinitely for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information they submitted for marketing purposes.

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and Website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

We will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices when you log in. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. For example, if you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

An additional cookie will be saved in your browser if you edit or publish an article. This cookie includes no personal data and indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

If you answer a questionnaire, personal data is captured to generate the documents and instructions. We keep questionnaire responses indefinitely for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.

Credit Cards

All credit card transactions are processed through a third-party secure payment gateway, and the information you provide is only used for making the current transaction. No credit card information is ever stored on our servers.

Use of Personal Information

Sometimes, with third-party assistance, we may use your data to verify your identity and process your order and payment through merchant account services, generate the products and services you create with our Software, and analyze our customer demographics to serve you better.

Your Personal Data may be used to contact you to follow up with transactions initiated on the Website or inform you of any service-related changes to the Website. Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications, though they can deactivate their accounts. However, these communications are not promotional. We do not sell or rent Personally Identifiable Information to third parties, except as necessary to provide you with the services we offer. We may also offer a third party to comply with the law.

  • Only authorized employees may access your personal information.
  • We will hold all information you provide to us in absolute privacy.
  • We will not sell, rent or license your name or personal information to any third party.
  • We will not sell, rent or license our mailing list.
  • We will not send unsolicited e-mails.

We may display personal testimonials of satisfied customers received through email surveys on our Website or other marketing material. In addition, when you leave us reviews either on the Website, or on other publicly available websites, or by email, we may display these customer reviews on the Website. Any publicly posted review will be anonymized and, at our sole discretion, edited to suit the purpose for which it is being used.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if the visitor has visited the other Website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that Website.

Personal Data and Traffic Data are used to gather general statistics regarding our customers and visitors, respectively, to enhance the consumer experience on the Website. We may also use demographic data that does not identify you specifically or allow you to be contacted but does identify specific criteria about our users in general. For example, we may inform third parties about the number of registered users, unique visitors, and the most frequently browsed pages. Still, such information is not examined for Personally Identifiable Information. We may also use Traffic Data to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our site, or display the content according to your preferences.

Who we share your data with

We may share information about you with government entities to fulfill the purchased products. In addition, specific Personal Data becomes a public record when documents are filed with the court. For example, your name and your spouses’ name become general information when an application for divorce is filed. This Privacy Policy does not cover these actions.

How long we retain your data

At a minimum, we will retain your data for as long as needed to provide you services and as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Therefore, we may maintain some or all of this data in its archives even after being removed from the Website.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our Website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

We strive to ensure that our servers and connections incorporate the latest encryption and security hardware and software devices. Our servers are physically located in Canada. We have implemented physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure our collected information. Credit cards and Personal Data are transmitted by secure means. Documents are delivered to you via Xpresspost or similar delivery services or electronically, including through online storage or email. Unfortunately, no data transmission is guaranteed to be 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the security of information you transmit to or from our Website or through the use of our services.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to our information practices. If we make any material changes, a notice will be posted on this page and the revised Privacy Policy before the change becomes effective. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information on our privacy practices.

If you have any questions regarding our Privacy Policy, please contact us by submitting your question through our Website contact form.
